Feasibility study of Wind Energy System with Green Hydrogen Backup to Decarbonise remote communities of Greenland

Aim

To assess the feasibility of a wind energy system backed up by Green Hydrogen to decarbonize the electricity of remote areas of Greenland.

Objectives

  • To evaluate the potential for wind energy in Greenland's remote communities as a main source of energy to replace current diesel-reliant electricity generation.

  • To analyze the potential for hydrogen production in multiple towns to choose potential candidates for the proposed system

  • to compare the capital and operating costs of the proposed system with existing and competing systems (current diesel system, wind with battery backup)
